Pakistan’s 16-day tour of Bangladesh starting next weekend will go ahead despite last week’s mutiny in Dhaka, when scores of senior army officers were gunned down, an official said on Monday.

Bangladesh Cricket Board spokesman Jalal Ahmed said the Pakistani team would arrive in Dhaka on March 7 as planned.

“As far as we know the tour is on. We haven’t received any message from Pakistan seeking any delay or change to the tour schedule,” he said.

Pakistan will play two Twenty20 matches and five one-day internationals in Dhaka and Chittagong.

Security remains tight in Bangladesh after the rank-and-file border guards opened fire on their superiors at a military base in the capital.

The bloody 33-hour siege ended Thursday night, and regular army troops have been deployed across the country to hunt around 1,000 fugitive mutineers.
